The shocking statistics of world wars make one wonder what lies ahead for our world! At the start of World War II, the world’s population was approximately 2.3 billion people. Of those, 127 million were mobilized! Casualties among the armed forces of the world’s nations totaled about 24.5 (twenty-four and a half) million people! 37.5 (thirty-seven and a half) million people were wounded! 29 million were taken prisoner! Civilian casualties worldwide totaled 46,733,000. The total number of deaths during World War II is estimated at 71,170,000 people. This figure may be incomplete and significantly underestimated, as during World War II tens of millions of people also suffered from starvation and disease, and millions died as a result. In addition to World War II, there was World War I, whose statistics we will also examine in this film. Numerous small-scale military conflicts continue to rage across the globe.
Today we live in a time of war and ever-increasing chaos in the world. Yet many people ignore the Word of God. So, should people today study the Bible?
The Bible tells us what was, what is, and what will be; therefore, we must study God’s Word so that we may find ourselves in the right place—both here and in eternal life. There is blessing and there is curse. Just as there is day and night, so there is life and death, heaven and hell. You will end up in one or the other; there is no third option. In the same way, there is God and there is Satan. There is love, there is good, and there is evil. There is no middle ground. Where we end up is determined by God in His Word. If you do not believe in God, if you do not know God, then you must know that there is no neutral ground.
Viktor Frankl, a psychotherapist and psychologist who was Jewish, was imprisoned in several Nazi concentration camps during World War II. After the doctor found himself in a concentration camp, he spoke of a phenomenon known as the “delusion of pardon,” which consisted of all prisoners, just before entering the gas chambers of death, being seized by the delusion that this would not happen, that it would not come to pass, and that they would all be pardoned right then and there. But the delusion of mercy did not work, and we know that as a result, millions of people were exterminated in the gas chambers, in the crematoria, and through other torments and tortures during World War II. Therefore, as sane people, we must understand what was, what is, and what will be. And why do we need to keep our faith in God? Because only God can deliver us from these great curses. People who have been through this hell say that true hell is when you are ruled by a gang of sadistic rapists, looters, and armed murderers who drive civilians like a herd to the slaughter.
And we must not remain silent about this; our children must know this, and we are all together obligated to preach the Gospel and stop the hell that is sweeping across the earth, for the Word of God says: hell follows death, and they have been given authority over a fourth of the planet to kill with weapons and famine, pestilence, and the beasts of the earth. Hell and death exist on earth; they also exist in eternity. The second death will be in the fiery Gehenna, despite the fact that many are obsessed with the delusion of mercy, rejecting the existence of hellish torments and eternal punishment in the fiery abyss for their unrepentant sins.
The reality of death and hell on earth is evidenced by the two world wars. Before that, people believed in God, and virtually all scholars were theologians. From time immemorial, we and our ancestors have always believed in God. Even under Satanism and communist terror, masses of people kept their faith and developed spiritually, growing in their knowledge of God. But when the sons of the evil one took hold, having been sown into this world, and no one stopped them, they gave free rein to these heretical teachings—Darwinism, Satanism, atheism, and other madness. Thus, Joseph Stalin preached godlessness, claiming that man descended from apes, that there was no global catastrophe, and that the Earth is millions of years old. Now we have statistics on the world wars that shook the earth, which really make one think. And we must understand how much we need to fight today for the faith, for God, so that our society may be Christian.
Let’s now look at the official statistics for the world wars. If we consider World War I, we can see the populations of the largest participating countries as of 1914: the Russian Empire—at that time, its population was 175 million, and 15,378,000 were mobilized. There were 2,254,000 killed, 3,749,000 wounded, 3,342,000 captured, and 1,070,000 civilian casualties.
Let’s now consider the United Kingdom. In 1914, its population stood at 46 million; 4.9 million were mobilized, nearly 1 million were killed, 1.6 million were wounded, 170,000 were taken prisoner, and 3,000 civilians were killed. This gives a clear picture of the scale of the mobilization.
To continue, in 1914 France had a population of 39.6 million; it mobilized 6.8 million troops, of whom 1.397 million were killed, 2.8 million were wounded, 0.5 million (half a million) were taken prisoner, and 160,000 civilians were killed.
At the start of the war, the German Empire had a population of 67,790,000; it mobilized 13,291,000 troops, of whom 2,037,000 were killed, 2,100,000 were wounded, nearly 0.5 million were taken prisoner, and civilian casualties totaled 67,500. And so on; you can examine the statistics for all countries yourself.
The world’s total population at that time was 1.473 billion people; a total of 71 million were mobilized worldwide, 10 million were killed, 18 million were wounded, and 8.5 (eight and a half) million were taken prisoner; and the number of civilian casualties was 11.5 (eleven and a half) million.
Now let’s look at the losses suffered by the countries involved in World War II. We’ll focus on the largest ones. The USSR: population in 1939 – 196,716,000 people. 34.5 (thirty-four and a half) million were mobilized; military casualties in the war totaled approximately 11 million; 15 million were wounded; 5.7 million were taken prisoner; and civilian casualties amounted to 16 million people. The total number of deaths in the USSR was 26 million. As analysts say, these figures are underestimated.
Germany: Population at the start of the war: 69,620,000; 17,800,000 mobilized; military casualties: approximately 6 million; wounded: 5.5 (five and a half) million; prisoners of war: 4,100,000; civilian casualties: up to 3 million. Total deaths: 8.5 (eight and a half) million people.
United Kingdom: population 47,760,000; 5,800,000 mobilized; military casualties 286,000; wounded 280,000; captured 192,000; civilian casualties 92,500 (ninety-two and a half thousand). Total number of fatalities: 380,000.

All these statistics are greatly underestimated. We compiled statistics on the Afghan War, when the Soviet Union sent troops into Afghanistan, resulting in utter chaos and the deaths of one and a half million Afghans. They say that a total of 15,000 soldiers from the Soviet Union died in that war. You may believe that, but we don’t. According to surveys in villages—places with populations of fewer than ten thousand—there were two to three casualties in every village. And those are just the casualties from the villages; what about the cities and other areas? So if you multiply two people by the number of settlements—of which there are nearly thirty thousand in Ukraine alone—what figure do you get? And if we take the Soviet Union, since they drafted from all settlements. And if we multiply that by 2 people again? We’ll get a completely different figure—hundreds of thousands of people. That’s why these figures—how many died in World War I and World War II—are fairy tales.
That’s the reality! The Bible says that future wars will be even more terrifying because weapons are becoming far more destructive—nuclear weapons of mass destruction. And, of course, the world is on the brink of a new conflict. Here in Ukraine, we feel this in the daily shelling with ballistic missiles and other types of weapons. But God is protecting us, because there should have been more than one nuclear war by now, yet God is stopping it and giving humanity time.
I wonder why God gives us time? If we go back to Abraham and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, we see the question: Will there be ten righteous people in the city? If there are ten righteous people in the city, God says, I will not destroy it. And we get the answer to the question: why does God still give us time? Because there are still righteous people on earth who shine, who must shine and bring people the answer and a way out, so that every person can make their own choice. That is why it is said that when the gospel has been preached to all people on earth—then the end will come. Every person must make their own choice: are they with God, or are they without God?
We can condemn the Holocaust and genocide, and we can be aware of the terrible losses suffered in those wars, but we must also condemn and understand the cause of it all. After all, everything has a cause and effect. The cause is godlessness, and these two wars that shook our land occurred because the preaching of evolutionism, atheism, the absence of God, and unbelief in the Bible had begun in earnest. And the sons of the wicked one, the sons of the devil, sown into this world, began to propagate all of this, and what happened afterward is now a fact. Therefore, in order to live in a Christian nation, we must return to our Lord Jesus Christ.
